R277-412-2. Authority and Purpose

A. The rule is authorized by Utah Constitution Article X, Section 3 which vests general control and supervision of public education in the Board, by Subsection 53F-2-509(3) which requires the Board to make rules establishing procedures for applying for and awarding grants and specifying how grant money shall be allocated among school districts and charter schools, and Subsection 53E-3-401(4), which allows the Board to make rules in accordance with its responsibilities.

B. The purpose of this rule is to provide criteria, procedures and timelines for the Board to select schools to participate in State Capitol visits.
