    Purpose of the rule or reason for the change:

    The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Division flexibility in obtaining accreditation for elevator inspectors.

    This change removes the reference to ASME QEI -1 from Inspector Qualification allowing the Division flexibility in obtaining accreditation for elevator inspectors.

    There is no cost to the state budget associated with this change, as this change will allow the Division more flexibility in obtaining accreditation for elevator inspectors.

    R616-3. Elevator Rules.

    R616-3-4. Inspector Qualification.

    A. Any person who performs elevator safety inspections must have a current certification as a Qualified Elevator Inspector [as outlined in ASME QEI-1, Qualifications for Elevator Inspectors]from a nationally accredited organization.
