Under Sections 23-14-18 and 23-14-19, the Wildlife Board is authorized and required to provide rules to regulate and prescribe the means by which protected wildlife may be taken.

The division has not received any written comments regarding this rule. Any comments received in opposition to the rule are resolved using existing policies and procedures or the issue is placed on the Regional Advisory Council and Wildlife Board's agenda for review and discussion during the process for taking public input. The public is welcome to view the Regional Advisory Council minutes, Wildlife Board minutes, and administrative record for this rule at the Division of Wildlife Resources.
Reasoned justification for continuation of the rule, including reasons why the agency disagrees with comments in opposition to the rule, if any:
Rule R657-11 provides the application procedures, standards, and requirements for taking furbearers. The provisions adopted in this rule are effective in providing the standards and requirements for taking furbearers. Continuation of this rule is necessary for continued success of the furbearer program and providing furbearer hunting opportunities.
