    NOTICE OF REVIEW AND STATEMENT OF CONTINUATION

    Concise explanation of the particular statutory provisions under which the rule is enacted and how these provisions authorize or require the rule:

    The Utah Department of Public Safety has been tasked in Subsection 53-10-104(1), (9), and (14) to: 1) provide and coordinate the delivery of support services to law enforcement agencies; 2) provide investigative assistance to law enforcement and other government agencies; and 3) perform the functions specified in this chapter. This rule is to establish a program whereby the Department of Public Safety can assist federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies in concealing the true identity of undercover peace officers.

    Peace officers have a continuous need for undercover identification to carry out their duties, thus the need for continuation of the rule.
