Title 26, Chapter 21, Health Facility Licensure and Inspection Act, authorizes the Utah Department of Health to promulgate rules for health care facilities. The Specialty Hospital - Long-Term Acute Care Construction Rule adopts the current codes and architectural guidelines for construction of Long-Term Acute Care hospitals. Without the authority provided, standards for construction of Long-Term Acute Care hospitals would not be available.

The agency agrees with the need to continue the rule. The rule ensures proper construction of Long-Term Acute Care hospitals. The Health Facility Committee updated and reviewed the rule in 2002.
